The DEA (department of water and wastewater) ensures, through all of its technical, financial, administrative and economical aspects, the management of drinking water, wastewater and rainwater.
Its objectives are:
-To ensure the best possible value for money of the services offered to users
- to increase the competitiveness of the public service
- to take up the technological challenges involved in preserving the environment
As regards drinking water
- To produce water to meet consumption 24 hours a day.
- To collect the water in the natural environment
- To guarantee water for human consumption which meets health standards by means of the appropriate treatment.
- To transport the drinking water and make it available to users by connection works and meters.
As regards wastewater To collect sewage from consumers by ensuring their connection to the network.
(In Vannes, rainwater is separated from sewage - separate networks)To transport the sewage by a network 236 km in length. To treat the sewage in purification plants in order to preserve the natural environment.
As regards customer services To manage subscriptions and cancellations. - To carry out meter reading and invoicing.
