Waste collection
In order to find out the timetables and locations or steps to be taken for waste collection, choose from the various types of waste listed below.
Household waste
It has been the responsibility of the Communauté d'Agglomération (urban area community) in the Pays de Vannes since 1 January 2003.

Waste containers must be left on the pavement a short time before the collection and removed soon after the waste disposal truck has passed. It is forbidden to leave waste on the street on Sundays and public holidays. Collection times:
- town centre: 6.45 pm to midnight daily or sometimes later,
(except Sundays and public holidays)
- rest of the area: twice weekly from 5 am to 2.30 pm
(Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday).

Bulky waste
Bed bases, mattresses, furniture, domestic appliances
(no household waste or tree cuttings).
Free collection (up to 2 m3 per year per household).
Monday to Friday 8.45 am to 12.15 am and from 2 pm to 5.15 pm

Healthcare "sharp" waste
The Communauté d'agglomération (urban area community) organises a collection on the first Saturday in the month from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm, zone du Prat, 35 avenue Gontran Bienvenu, 56037 Vannes Cedex.
This service is for the use of professionals who produce under 5 kg of waste per month and for private individuals.
Private individuals must register with the urban area community’s waste disposal service (Tel: +33 (0)2 97 68 33 81, e-mail). There you will be given your identification number to be indicated on the boxes when making deposits. This system makes it possible to maintain confidentiality whilst ensuring traceability of this type of waste.
Once the waste has been deposited, you will be given a new standard box.
Professionals must also register with the council services and must complete four healthcare activity waste data sheets (bordereaux de Suivi des Déchets d'Activités de Soins (BSDAS)) corresponding to their annual waste deposits. They will be invoiced every 3 months, €6.26 (exc.VAT) per container deposited.

The following material is accepted:
- bulky waste: domestic appliances, bed bases, furniture, attic clearances etc.
- inert waste: rubble, demolition waste, tree cuttings, hedge trimmings etc.
- ordinary waste: of commercial or trade origin (scrap metal, cardboard boxes, wood, plastic, paper etc.).
