South Brittany Engineering College

The “Ecole nationale supérieure d'ingénieurs de Bretagne-Sud (ENSIBS)” (South Brittany National Engineering College) is scheduled to open in September 2007 on the Tohannic campus.

ENSIBS

Computer Sciences Option in Vannes

The UBS will have its engineering college in September 2007. Vannes will offer computer science courses and Lorient will offer the industrial engineering and mechatronics courses. ENSIBS is planned for a capacity of 672 students.

The UBS has chosen to position itself strongly in the sector of professionally-oriented courses, by multiplying its offer of professional undergraduate degree and Master Pro graduate degree courses. The creation of the ENSIBS reinforces this policy.

56 engineers per year

Engineering students in Vannes will be taught at the Tohannic campus, their training will be enhanced by the expertise of Valoria, a computer science research laboratory. They will become software research and development engineers, systems integration engineers, computer science project managers and quality-methods engineers.
56 students will be awarded degrees by the computer science centre every year when it is fully operational. This will validate a three-year course, which is to include a very large work experience component: a total of eight months, to which must be added the two months of the language trip at the end of the first year.

How to enter the college?
Candidates must have a minimum of a 2-year undergraduate degree. The preliminary selection will be made on the basis of a written application dossier, and on the basis of an interview for holders of a DUT (polytechnic diploma) or for students who have passed second-year undergraduate examinations (L2). Application dossiers are available in February, selected candidates will be called for interview during the month of June.
Students in preparatory classes for “Grandes Ecoles” (elite higher education establishments) will be selected by competitive entrance examinations. Registration is open from January.
UBS is also setting up a course to prepare for entry to the ENSIBS. This preparatory course will give the automatic right to enter the first year of study at the engineering college, on condition that the L2 examination has been passed. Preliminary selection by dossier and interviews. Applications must be made by the start of May. Interviews take place in May and June.
